Angry Birds: A new advertising model

Mikael Hed, founder and CEO of Rovio, originally created the game Angry Birds for iPhone. The cartoon birds were an instant success: 12 million copies of paid downloads were generated through iPhone users only.

There’s more: Angry Birds became a free application for Android and other platforms. And so, 30 million copies of the free version were downloaded, creating monthly revenue of $1 million through advertising.

The free application is a great way to keep users captive for a longer period of time; it can compete with television.
And so these angry birds are happily developing a new and profitable advertising model.
