Digital World Trends – #lift11

This year, I had the chance to attend my first .

Apart from the great pleasure of seeing Jean-Claude Biver (Hublot) talking about innovation, and Alex Osterwalder (Business Model Generation – considered a star by ENIGMA!) presenting his new business models theory, I particularly liked David Galbraith’s keynote and Jean-Henry Morin’s “iGraffiti” workshop. Indeed, both offered a new perspective on things and habits we are all quite familiar with.

David Galbraith knows about web traffic and data transfer, whether it is through the Internet or mobile devices. He’s the co-founder of , a social network that recorded 41 million visitors in December 2010, web and mobile access altogether. David Galbraith sees a conflict between the Internet connections for which you pay a fee and then get unlimited surfing, and mobile connections for which you pay by the amount of data transmitted/received.

For example, if Lady Gaga had to pay Google for the web traffic she generates at the same cost as mobile data transfer, it would cost her 10 trillion dollars! With the multiplication of information available on the web, the trend is that all-you-can-eat data will disappear and maybe the net neutrality will soon be dead.  One can easily imagine what are the risks for the free access to information.
