Rethinking Blackboat’s visual identity

Enigma Strategy & Branding took the challenge to design a new visual identity for a company which is a medecine to others.

Ambition

Blackboat is not a typical consulting firm. Its ambition is to relieve companies and address the problems they face, whether as start-ups or as long established enterprises. Blackboat acts like a medication, and treats serious issues using tools and new work methods that improve job performance and focus on tasks.

Our challenge was to create a visual identity of a company that boasts extreme organizational skills, like the German boat it’s named after, as well as innovative methods.

Action

We decided to create a logo with medical imagery, a pill. Colors had to inspire trust and professionalism, as well as refer to the famous original black boat. We chose black and blue.

To emphasize the company’s originality, we designed business cards that are unique and practical, and that express what the firm is at first glance. They include a quote that is associated with the proposed workshop.

Their website had to be concise, show cutting-edge technology, and tell the services they offer: we chose to create a one-pager.

Together, stationery and websites bring cohesion between the various elements and reflect Blackboat ‘s values. Mission accomplished.
