Founded in 1951, the IOM is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration, working closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners.

With 175 member states, 8 other states with observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to defending migrants and promoting the shared benefits of migration. It does this by providing services and advice to governments and to migrants themselves.
IOM promotes international cooperation on migration issues, helps to find practical solutions to migration problems and provides humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people. The IOM Charter recognizes the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as the right to freedom of movement.

The campaign emphasizes the courage, pride and magnitude of migrants’ individual journeys. Both the tagline and the catchphrase establish an immediate reciprocity between the migrants and the audiences. The campaign aims for empathy by looking at each journey through the eyes of those who have experienced it. It persuades by drawing on real-life experience to share it more effectively. It underlines the humanity of the IOM’s projects and their positive effects on migrants and those who welcome them.
